It seems that the super religious, super "lock 'em up and throw away the key" thinking within dubbie's junta would kick in now and get some cops over to Iraq. I always thought the conquering army ensured law and order. What is the matter with our military leaders? Are they listening to Wolfowitz, Perle, Rumsfield and Bush? Everybody knows these "Chicken-Hawks" know nothing about conducting a war... or a peace, for that matter. Poor dumb old dubbie... poor Iraqi's...Poor us! Time for a regime change in Washington! Vote him out, folks.

If Americans win a war (not just against Saddam Hussein but the longer-term struggle) and lose the Constitution, they will have lost everything. -Lance Morrow, Time, March 17

What is going on with our guys killing reporters? Seems like there is a real good case against us for killing a couple of reporters in the Palestine Hotel and wounding Al-Jeezera reporters a couple of times. What in the world is going on? The Palestine Hotel shooting is especially suspect. Check out www.fair.org and read about it.

This was published on Spiked today. "Those who would draw a line between the shallow politics of spin at home and this real battle of conviction politics in Iraq are missing the mark. In a sense, the war has shown that the politics of spin can come out of the barrel of a gun. . . The vacuum at the center of Iraqi society, like the bomb craters in Baghdad, reveals the hole at the heart of the Bush-Blair war." http://www.spiked-online.com/articles/00000006DD38.htm

Since we have found no weapons of mass destruction, does that mean the reason dubbie started this thing was false? He said we knew Saddam had them. If we don't find them and it is decided that he had destroyed them, does that mean this war with all its death and destruction was in vain?

With all the looting going on under the very noses of American and British troops, you would think that someone would enforce Martial Law. What kind of liberation is this? Letting the criminal element take over after we get rid of a criminal dictator is not what our soldiers died for. It appears that no one is in charge and that anarchy rules in Baghdad. Get it together, dubbie.

There is a lot of chatter about Saddam going to Russia. Maybe. Also, there may be some connection between the killing of the Russians this week and our thinking they were rescuing Saddam. Or, maybe we got killed him riding with the Russians? Hmmmm?

Looks like our soldiers are in the center of Baghdad. Now we have to count up and see what it cost in lives on both sides and put the responsibility for the loss of those lives and the expenditure of our treasure squarely were it belongs, on the shoulders of George W. Bush. Congratulations, Mr. Bush, you will probably now be legitimately elected President of the United States, for all the wrong reasons. As your pappy shouted once, "ITS A NEW WORLD ORDER!". Now is the time for people who pray to beseech their god to save our country from suffering under this tyrant's heel any further.

How much better can it get?

"Former Texas Gov. Ann Richards observed the other day that the price of gasoline has gone so high in Texas that women who want to run over their husbands have to car pool.

Thought we needed a laugh before plunging back into the war. Here's a lovely item.

The Australian Broadcasting Corp. reports that U.S. soldiers in Iraq are being asked to pray for President Bush. Thousands of Marines have been given a pamphlet, put out by In Touch Ministries, called "A Christian's Duty." It is a mini prayer book that includes a tear-out card to be mailed to the White House pledging that the soldier who sends it has been praying for Bush.

"I have committed to pray for you, your family, your staff and our troops during this time of uncertainty and tumult," says the card. "May God's peace be your guide."

That's special." GAWD !! I LOVE MOLLY IVINS!

Bush Urges N.Irish Parties to Embrace Peace
Tue April 8, 2003 08:59 AM ET
By Alex Richardson and Kevin Smith

HILLSBOROUGH, Northern Ireland (Reuters) - President Bush intervened in Northern Ireland peace efforts on Tuesday, urging the feuding parties to seize a historic moment and become a beacon of hope for the world. But publicly at least, Bush offered nothing concrete to bring about a return of home rule and exuded none of the passion that his predecessor Bill Clinton used to help bring about a peace deal in the province." Wow, what I would give to have Bill Clinton back now!

Lots of stuff going on as the end of the active organized fighting in Iraq winds down. Now our soldiers face the guerilla type warfare that always favors the home boys. Kind of like the Viet Cong in Viet Nam. Hide behind babies and kill the enemy. While some might call it cowardly, it is an effective way to get close to the enemy and destroy him. There are plenty of grown-ups in countries who have nothing who would willingly sacrifice their child for their country. Would you?

NEO-BARBARIANS LIKE CHAOS

WILLIAM PFAFF, INTERNATIONAL HERALD TRIBUNE - Whatever the intentions, the immediate result of what Washington is doing is to produce chaos. The neo-conservatives like to quote the economist Joseph Schumpeter on "creative destruction," as if this phrase, meant to describe a process in the development of capitalism, were a general statement of truth,
guaranteeing that destruction produces creation. It does not.
One of the many curious things President George W. Bush is quoted as saying, this time in Bob Woodward's book, "Bush at War," is that U.S. strategy in Afghanistan "is to create chaos, to create a vacuum." Out of the chaos and vacuum, good would come. This echoes the Trotskyist belief in the constructive effect of "permanent revolution." It has another resonance as well, an apocalyptic religious one, of interest as the president is said by some to see his presidency within the context of the biblical narrative of the end of days. He certainly thinks of the United States as the vessel of mankind's salvation.
Woodward ends his book with another quotation from the president, uncomfortably apposite: "We will export death and violence to the four corners of the Earth in defense of our great nation."

Sorry about the lack of posts lately, but it seems that since the new company took over Blogspot we who publish free are kind of forgotten. Wish they would just let us know if they are going to allow free publishing of blogs, or not, so we could arrange for another site to publish. Just be honest, don't tell us you are having problems if you are not. Remember, the free publish of Blogger is what made it famous.
